Are you posted to CFB Shilo?  I would love to represent your best interests in the purchase of your home here in Friendly Manitoba.

I am Integrated Relocation Program (IRP) Approved and have experience with working with relocating CF Members and their families.  I also have experience with the actual move as I am a military spouse and have been posted, here to CFB Shilo.

CFB Shilo is a smaller base but has a big heart.  I myself have taken advantage of the support provided by the Shilo Military Family Resource Centre, such as the Occasional Child Care (OCC).

The following Checklist should help you with your House Hunting Trip. 

HHT Checklist

Ask me for the name of a good quality hotel that is in a convenient location that is available on your IRP Approved List.

Tentatively book a Home Inspector after you set your arrival date.  Make sure that there is no penalty to cancel or re-schedule the home inspection.

Bring your cheque book along.  You will be required to put a deposit down on the home you are purchasing. A cheque is preferred.

Bring a camera to take extra pickture of the home you will potentially be purchasing.  The best time to take the extra pictures will be during your home inspection.  A tape measurer may be an idea also, regarding fridge sizes, etc.

Bring slip-on shoes to get in and out of homes easier.

If you are bringing younger children along, you may want to arrange for child care to facilitate showings and when reviewing and signing important documentation.

You will require the services of other professionals while on your HHT.  A lawyer, home inspector, possibly a contractor, etc.  I can provide you with a list of experienced specialists who will be pleased to assist you or you can look to the approved list given to you by your IRP Representative.

When we have an accepted offer, but are still waiting to remove our conditions, like the home inspection, you may wish to take advantage of this time to complete other tasks, such as the following: Investigate schools Complete change of address cards/Open a Post Office Box Research potential childcare. Make arrangements regarding your utilities/phone/cable services. Open Bank Accounts Drop off resumes at potential employers.
